The very best place to get great grub on the Central Coast on the 4th of July weekend is your own backyard! Invite some friends over, fire up the grill and chill some drinks…it’s going to be a great weekend. These Independence Day recipes have got you covered.
First up, burgers. I love burgers, but with the amount of amazing burgers here on the Central Coast, I’ve learned how to make mine a bit healthier by adding fresh spinach or Swiss chard. And still delicious by adding feta cheese! And maybe some bacon.
Spinach Feta Burger Recipe
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 bunch fresh spinach or Swiss chard
- 1/2 cup feta cheese
- Salt + Pepper
- Worcestershire sauce
Chop the spinach or Swiss chard and sautée over medium heat until slightly wilted. Set aside to cool while you place the meat in a large bowl and season with S+P and 1 or 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce. Add feta cheese and greens and mix well with your hands.
Divide into patties and grill to desired temperature. Top with anything you like, but here in California, we can’t skip the avocado.
Always consider adding bacon to your burger – or other sides! It’s the single best way to make everything scrumptious. Check out these 5 ways to add bacon to your backyard BBQ and get ready for a crowd.
Grilling Tips + Ribs Recipe
Another great grilling dish are these Zesty BBQ Ribs. Keeping ribs moist and tender is very important, and this recipe walks you through each step for stellar ribs.
This recipe uses a spice rub AND BBQ sauce, which will definitely get you the title, “King of the Ribs.”
Marinated Swordfish Recipe
And finally, fish. This Marinated Swordfish with Avocado Butter is one of the easiest, most delicious fish recipes we’ve tried. You can cook it in the oven or on the grill, and it’s super impressive to your guests. Mine loved it as much as fish by a professional Chef!
For dessert, some patriotic of course: American Flag cake, Stars and Stripes cookies or downhome Berry Cheesecake pie. Get the recipes here!
