Earth Day Food & Wine at Castoro Cellars is the best food and wine event on the Central Coast! I know that’s a big claim, and I have 3 big reasons for making it:
1. The Food & Wines are Amazing
Many of our festivals on the Central Coast have superb restaurants, great wines and guest winemaker speakers. But at this festival, chefs bring out the big guns. Last year we had things like Indian-spiced Beef Flatbread, a Jerk Chicken and seaweed noodle cone with sesame ponzu and yuzu pepper dressing, not to mention the 805 Beer-Braised Beef Brisket Sandwich served with a local, organic green salad — almost a whole meal! Desserts are things like Negranti’s fresh ice cream flavors of salted brown sugar or chocolate & peanut butter and house-made Marshamallows infused with Cabernet Sauvignon, then toasted right in front of you. And wineries too, bring out special wines, sparkling releases and new brews that you may not find anywhere else. Plus, you’ll find local hard ciders and distilled spirits too!
2. No Waiting in Line (and plenty of food)
This festival is on the smaller size since the folks running it limit the number of tickets sold. This means there is plenty of space and spots to sit, plus no waiting in line! Also, plenty of room to dance when the band gets going. This means you get to try all the delicious foods you’ve heard about, and there is a booth of food per wine booth — the highest ratio of food to wine of any festival I’ve been to. And they don’t run out of food.
3. You’re Helping Farmers
That’s right — the folks who toil and grow the food we eat (and wine we drink) benefit from the profits of this wonderful event. Event organizers make sure that proceeds from the event benefit educational scholarships for relatives of farmworkers and Spanish education programs of the Vineyard Team – the folks behind the Sustainability In Practice (SIP) Certified program.
We believe that farmers are the center of an environmentally and socially conscious food culture.
For ten years we’ve set the bar for top quality food and wine experiences, with the added bonus of celebrating a sustainable food culture. From twenty-somethings to seventy-somethings, we’re proud to connect like minded folks all for the greater good.”
